What to Expect
Our 6-week beginners course is designed to help you learn, grow, and connect — both with your board and with a small, supportive crew. You’ll be with the same group of people each week (max 6 per group), so you can progress together, cheer each other on, and build genuine friendships along the way.
Each session is 90 minutes long and takes place outdoors at one of Bristol’s beautiful skate spots. Most weeks we’ll meet somewhere new — from smooth park paths to gentle slopes and even a taste of skate parks and surfskating — so you can experience the full spectrum of longboarding and discover where you most love to ride.
All equipment is provided, including boards, helmets, and pads, so you can just turn up ready to roll. If you fall in love with skating (which tends to happen!), we can offer personalised gear recommendations through our friends at Vandem Longboard Shop, Bristol’s local longboard specialists.
Expect a mix of mindful movement, laughter, and the joy of gliding through the city with a like-minded community by your side.

Do I need any experience to join?
Not at all! The course is designed for complete beginners. You’ll learn everything from your first pushes to carving and cruising with confidence.
Do I need my own board and gear?
All equipment is provided — longboard, helmet, and pads. If you already have your own board, you’re welcome to bring it along, and Danielle can help check your setup. If you’d like to buy your own gear later, we can give personalised recommendations through our friends at Vandem Longboard Shop.
How many people are in each group?
Groups are kept small, with a maximum of six people, so you’ll get plenty of guidance and support while learning alongside the same friendly crew each week.
Where do the sessions take place?
Classes take place across Bristol at different outdoor spots chosen for the group’s ability and focus each week. You’ll get to experience everything from smooth park paths to skate parks and surfskating areas. A full list of locations (with parking and access info) is on our [Locations Page].
How long are the sessions?
Each session is 90 minutes long — the perfect amount of time to learn, practice, and have fun without feeling rushed.
What happens if it rains?
If the weather’s not on our side, we’ll either reschedule the session or adapt to a more sheltered spot where possible. You’ll always be notified in advance.
What should I wear?
Comfortable, flexible clothing that lets you move freely — trainers or skate shoes are ideal. Layers are great for outdoor sessions, as Bristol weather can be unpredictable!
Can kids join?
Yes — the course is open to all ages, though under-16s will need a parent or guardian to sign the consent form.
Can I book with a friend?
Absolutely! It’s even better learning together. Plus, you’ll both get 10% off when booking two or more spots.
What if I miss a session?
We can’t guarantee make-up classes, but we’ll do our best to help you catch up or join another group if space allows.
How do I book?
You can reserve your spot directly through our website at [soulfulskateco.com] — spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended.
