Longboard and surfskate lessons for Dyson University Surf Club
Service Description
Longboard and surfskate lessons for the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology We’ll cover all the essentials you need to transfer your surfing skills to land, helping you become more comfortable on a surfskate and build confidence for the waves. With small groups capped at 15 people, you’ll get plenty of individual attention and the opportunity to progress quickly. What You’ll Learn: Basics: We’ll start with the fundamentals – how to safely get on and off your board, finding your stance, and learning to push, carve, and pump with smooth, flowing turns. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refine your technique, this session will help you lay a strong foundation. Pumping: Learn to generate speed without pushing by mastering pumping techniques. We'll do drills with cones to help you lock in the right movements and build confidence in your own momentum. Longboard and surfskate maintenance: We’ll cover board setup and maintenance, helping you understand how to tune your board for optimal performance, whether you're skating flat ground or taking on more challenging terrain. Skateparks and Bowls: For those ready to push their skills further, we’ll introduce skateparks, transition skating and bowls. You’ll learn how to comfortably ride down gentle transitions, flow through banks, and practice rainbow-shaped turns. We’ll also go over skatepark etiquette to ensure everyone feels confident and safe in this new environment. Pump Tracks: Once you’ve got the basics down, we’ll explore pump tracks, where you can practice building and maintaining speed through smooth transitions without taking your foot off the board. What to Bring: Please bring your own helmet and pads (knee, elbow, and wrist guards). A bike helmet is great as well. Some padsets available to borrow. Boards also available to borrow.
