2 months working at @vandemlongboardshop 🛹🧰

How to summarise🤷🏼‍♀️
As Rich says, we’re just here to learn new things and have fun along the way and how lucky am I to be able to talk to really smart and interesting people every day about longboards 🤩

To think I’m the first girl to work in a longboard shop is pretty awesome and every day a woman walks in the shop or over the phone tells me how refreshing it is. I see it in our sales too, ~50% of our sales now go to women and I know how much our work for @longboardgirlscrewuk and @bristolgirlslongboard has made a difference 🥹

I have to remind myself that a year ago I was in my attic room in the corporate tech consultant life, hitting rock bottom - I’d broken my foot on New Year’s Eve, my ex-bf’s mum had died suddenly 4 days later, I’d watched my grandma fracture her skull falling down the stairs and Halle 🐶 got really sick and more and more shit 💩 hit the fan in just a 3 month period.
SO I re-wrote the story & completely changed EVERYTHING. I wrote on my desk “have courage” & it set me on a next level path that’s for sure ⚡️✨

Now I get to combine tech consulting ➕ longboards ➕teaching yoga ➕ @bristolgirlslongboard ➕ @longboardgirlscrew ➕@pushforwardfest planning…
(it’s hectic but I wouldn’t change a thing🙃)

From summer events seeing the shop filled with people and creativity to filming new videos and making our own music for them 🎷 (watch this space!!!!👀);
Every day you see the impact each idea has on a small business and it’s so rewarding!

The added bonus being that we have an amazing community in the business park of other creative people and we make massive salads 🥗 together every day for lunch 😻 Joe on drums, Jon the maker of all things, Dan @danabelmusic producer extraordinaire, the potters, the fancy coffee ☕️ roasters (it’s a melting pot of awesome people!).

Halle 🐶 quickly became the shop dog and won every customer round with an unsolicited lick to the leg 😅

Most importantly thank you Matt and Rich for being the best team ever 💎

The best hidden skate spot in all of Central America ✨

Driving past the runway on the way to @fincaelzopilote I’d never seen smoother tarmac 😱 An active volcano on one side and the lake on the other!

I started to plot my adventure, asking my local friends in the kitchen if planes come & go, everyone said no 🙏 So 3 hitch hikes and 1.5 hrs later I sneaked onto the runway 🫢

It’s important to note that at this point, I’d carried my longboard around Central America for four months and living in the jungle meant I had to grab every opportunity I could!

I pushed up and down, heard the dreaded whistle & saw the security guard running towards me. Thank god I’m fluent in Spanish & at this point with a new Nicaraguan slang because we made great friends & he invited me back 🤙

I’ve sat down to write this caption many times and struggled with the question “how was yoga teacher training?”, where do I even begin to summarise…I thought it might be easier to instead write some revelations ✨

🔶 Just because you think there are enough yoga teachers in the world does not mean your experience doesn’t deserve to take place and allow yourself to bring your style and knowledge to others. I am capable of creating MAGIC, whether that’s in a yoga class, creating community, building tech solutions or dancing until my heart sings.

🔷 My dharma/purpose is to bring joy (I have been told over the last year countless times “you’ve bought such joy to the trip / group / class ; your energy is infectious ; you have such a light soul”…well universe, I got the message loud and clear 💛

Thank you to my teachers @hayatiyoga and Sonia, without whom I would never have seen the magic that can be created through yoga and for inspiring me from the beginning. Thank you to @amasercr for holding a beautiful space for change and learning, thank you to @caribeyogaacademy and especially @avanigilbertyoga for putting together the most brilliant course and for teaching from the heart. To the faculty @edgaryogix , @amalayoga108 , @adri_kamala , @goddessawakeningyoga @ryannjoseph_ @motherearthmovements and @clarasvane , you each inspired me so much with your unique styles and passion for yoga.

And this quote I have carried in my wallet for years and I keep coming back to it to remind myself when I’m making mahooosive changes and shattering long held beliefs. Perhaps it helps you too: “true power is living the realisation that you are your own healer, hero, and leader”, Yung Pueblo. We truly do have all the answers we need within us already, we just have to listen.
