Josh is one of the kindest people you'll meet and he's based in Weymouth on the South Coast. He loves teaching both adults and kids foundations as well as sliding down hills.
Josh has written a little more about how he got into Skating and any advice he has.
“I guess it started back in like 2010/2011. A friend of a friend had made this thing that looked like a skateboard, but it was huge. I stood on it, rolled around a bit, and then the next thing I knew, I’d gotten a second-hand Lush Mako and couldn’t think about much else.
I’d never been able to skate, yet I took to longboarding nearly immediately. I skated EVERYWHERE.
Thirteen-ish years later, not much has changed apart from getting a little bit too into bushings and baseplate angles. I’ve met so many amazing people, and gone and experienced some amazing places.
Bristol Board Meeting will always be one of the most amazing things I’ve ever done. I’m super excited for what the future holds—there are still so many techniques and tricks to learn, people to meet, and places to skate.
I love longboarding. It’s part of what made me who I am today, and I’m thankful for it.
Danielle asked me to write something wise for those just starting out, and the two things I have are:
🟡 “Comparison is the thief of joy.” Looking at other skaters who are really good can be intimidating, but they want you to be as good as them. I haven’t met another longboarder who doesn’t want to pass on what they know.
🟡 “The second fall is always easier than the first.” Just please wear a helmet. Helmets are cool. Head injuries are not.
