Longboard Dance & Freestyle Courses
Perhaps you’ve been inspired by dance videos, playful freestyle tricks, or you’re simply curious to move differently on your board. Whatever’s brought you here, this course invites you to explore your style through movement.
You’ll skate with a small, supportive crew and gradually build confidence through dance steps, footwork and freestyle flows. Expect fresh air, laughter and that absorbed, present feeling that comes when things start to click.
All boards, helmets and pads can be provided, so you can just turn up and focus on enjoying the process.

What to Expect
Each session blends simple technique with play. You’ll work on dance steps, transitions and beginner freestyle elements, learning how to move smoothly around the board and link movements together.
Sessions are relaxed and supportive, with space to repeat, experiment and go at your own pace. There’s no pressure to look a certain way, just guidance to help you feel more comfortable, expressive and confident on your board.
This course suits skaters who already feel comfortable pushing, carving and stopping, and want to add creativity, rhythm and personal style to their skating.

The outline below is a typical progression, and we’ll adapt it based on the group’s confidence, weather and what everyone’s excited to dive into. Check out our Progression Tree for more details.
Our courses are of varied length to cater for different budgets, timeframes and goals.
Outdoor sessions are weather dependent so week by week we will pray to the skate weather gods and we'll adjust the plan to be in a covered spot if needed.
Week 1 – Dance Foundations
Learn essential dance footwork, balance and board awareness. Focus on feeling stable and relaxed as you move around the board.
Week 2 – Cross-Steps & Transitions
Develop cross-steps, pivots and smooth transitions between movements. Build rhythm and flow while linking steps together.
Week 3 – Freestyle & Play
Introduce beginner freestyle elements such as manuals and playful tricks. Learn how to combine freestyle with dance safely and confidently.
Week 4 – Flow, Musicality & Personal Style
Link movements into flowing sequences. Explore musicality, expression and what makes your skating feel uniquely yours.

Teachers
Your teacher for the course is Danielle Davis, founder of Soulful Skate Co. and an experienced longboarder, movement coach, and yoga teacher. Danielle combines her love of skating with a mindful, body-aware approach to movement, helping you build confidence, flow, and ease on your board. Her sessions are friendly, inclusive, and all about finding joy in the ride, wherever you’re starting from.
