Improver Longboard Courses
If you’ve got your foundations down and you’re ready for the next layer, this is where things get properly fun. This Improver longboard course is multidisciplinary like the beginner one, but everything goes deeper: more technical coaching, more precision, and more varied terrain.
We’ll refine the details that make skating feel smooth and controlled, like stance, weight placement, edge control, speed management, footwork and braking. You’ll also explore more challenging locations around Bristol, from longer cruisy routes to slopes, harder pump tracks, sliding and surfskate in the skatepark.
You’ll still get the Soulful vibe, friendly crew, mindful movement and loads of encouragement, just with a bit more spice.

🛹 For skaters who can already push, carve and stop
🎯 More technical coaching, drills and individual feedback
🌿 Explore trickier terrain and more varied locations
✨ Build flow, control and confidence at higher speeds
🧡 Small crew energy, bigger progression
What to Expect
Over multiple weeks you’ll skate with the same small, supportive crew, so you can build confidence, track progress and get personal feedback as your skills level up.
Each 90-minute session takes place outdoors at a different Bristol spot, chosen to match the focus of the week. Compared to the beginner course, we’ll spend less time on basics and more time on the details: efficient pushing, cleaner carving, stronger edge control, better speed management and smoother movement.
We’ll keep it playful and supportive, but expect a bit more challenge, more repetition, and more “aha” moments as things click.
All boards, helmets and pads can be provided, or bring your own setup.

Sample 6-Week Journey
This course is multidisciplinary, so you’ll get a mix of styles and locations, but with more depth. The outline below is a typical progression, and we’ll adapt it based on the group’s confidence, weather and what everyone’s excited to work on. Check out our Progression Tree for more details.
Our courses are of varied length to cater for different budgets, timeframes and goals. They all cover the fundamentals, but some specialist classes will be missed.
Outdoor sessions like pump track and surfskating at the skatepark are weather dependent, so week by week we will pray to the skate weather gods, and we'll adjust the plan to be in a covered spot if needed.
Week 1 – Technique Reset & Control
Dial in stance, posture and weight placement for better stability and efficiency. We’ll refine pushing, carving and foot braking, and look at how small tweaks in body position change your speed, grip and control.
Week 2 – Speed Management & Terrain Skills
Learn how to carry speed with control, handle rougher ground, and stay stable through changes in surface and slope. We’ll work on line choice, scanning ahead, and staying relaxed at higher speeds.
Week 3 – Footwork, Flow & Board Handling
Build board confidence through footwork and movement: cross-steps (or refining them), kick turns, step-over turns and smoother transitions. This week is about agility, flow and feeling at home on your deck.
Week 4 – Pump Track & Momentum Mastery
Take your technique into a pump track session with more intention: generating speed efficiently, linking sections, holding clean lines, and playing with rhythm and timing to build flow without effort.
Week 5 – Surfskating
Explore surfskating and discover how to carve and pump on the flat and potentially in the skatepark (*group ability dependent).
*For more surfskate specifc classes, please book a Surfskate specific course.
Week 6 – Cruise / Skatepark / Sliding [+Celebratory Coffee/Drink] 🥳
We’ll finish with a group-chosen session based on what you want most: a longer cruise, technical skill clinic, pump track progression, intro slide foundations, or a skatepark crossover session. We’ll round it off with a celebratory coffee or drink together.
📍Locations
Each course takes place at a variety of outdoor spots around Bristol, chosen to suit the group’s location, skill level, and the focus of each class. Intermediate courses include more varied terrain and slightly trickier locations than our beginner courses.
You can find a full list of our favourite skate spots along with details such as parking, accessibility, and facilities on our Locations Page
