Intermediate Surfskate Courses

Maybe you’ve been surfskating for a while now. You can pump, generate speed and get around the skatepark, but something feels a bit stuck. Certain turns don’t quite click, transitions feel inconsistent, or you keep doing the same lines without knowing how to level them up.

This course is for surfskaters who already have autonomy on the board and want to refine their technique, build confidence in steeper transitions and unlock more flow, power and control.

We’ll strip things back to the essentials, revisiting body mechanics, weight distribution and timing, before layering in higher-level skills like drop-ins, snaps, cutbacks and flowing lines through the park. Sessions focus on the quality of movement rather than ticking off tricks, helping you ride with more intention and ease.

Whether you’re self-taught and ready for guidance, or a surfer wanting to bring more power and style onto concrete, this course gives you the tools to progress without losing the joy that brought you to surfskating in the first place.

Advanced surfskate techniques and specialist progression are covered in our surfskate masterclasses, allowing for more focused coaching and higher-level exploration.

What to Expect

This course is for surfskaters who already have autonomy on the board and want to unlock more control, style and technical ability in skateparks and transitions.

You’ll refine pumping technique, speed control and turning mechanics before exploring bowls, drop-ins, snaps, cutbacks, and more flowing, confident lines. Sessions are focused, playful and progressive, with individual feedback to help you break through plateaus.

Each 90-minute session takes place at a variety of covered spots and outdoor skateparks around Bristol, chosen to suit the group’s level and the focus of each week. Expect to work harder, ride with more intention and feel increasingly connected to your board and body.

Sample 6-Week Journey

This course is for intermediate surfskaters who are comfortable pumping and carving, and are ready to take those skills further into skatepark riding. Progression is guided by the group, weather and location, but the structure below gives you a feel for how skills build week by week. Check out our Progression Tree for more details.

Our courses are of varied length to cater for different budgets, timeframes and goals.

Outdoor sessions like pump track and surfskating at the skatepark are weather dependent so week by week we will pray to the skate weather gods 🙏 and we'll adjust the plan to be in a covered spot if needed.

Week 1 – Flat Ground Technique & Assessment

Dial in pumping, stance and rotation on flat ground. We use cones to assess technique, refine speed control and set clear focus points for the weeks ahead.

Week 2 – Transitions & Carving

Take technique into the skatepark. Work on frontside and backside carving and introduce cutback movement patterns on mellow transitions.

Week 3 – Speed, Height & Momentum

Build speed and momentum through the bowl. Learn how snaps work, focusing on rotation, timing and controlled direction changes.

Week 4 – Drop-Ins & Bowl Riding

Introduce drop-ins in a progressive, supportive way. Use them to unlock flow, speed and new lines in the bowl. Always optional.

Week 5 – Linking Lines & Flow

Link turns and transitions, focusing on gaze, posture and smooth movement in the skatepark

Week 6 – Skatepark Flow [+Celebratory Coffee/Drink] 🥳

Finish at the group’s favourite skatepark or a pump track. Consolidate skills, ride your preferred lines and celebrate progress together 🥳
